One of the basic facts about fuel oil prices is that the prices can change with or without any warning to the consumers at all.  In fact, the prices can sometimes even change without the knowledge of the gas companies, while of course they will always know a little more than the average consumer.  However, the basic fuel oil prices are not always controlled by the gas companies but by the countries that produce it.

Many different circumstances and situations control and dictated fuel oil prices, and consumers have to learn how to deal with these fluctuations.  Some of these circumstances could include war, the economy of the supplying country, taxes within the country the fuel oil is being sold, and the seasons.  Fluctuations can even occur seemingly overnight.

It’s all about supply and demand in many cases.  In the summer fuel oil prices are a little lower since most people only need it to drive, not to heat their
homes.  In the winter, the fuel oil prices are much higher since people not only drive, but have to heat their homes, offices, and other buildings.  The more fuel oil that is needed, the more production cost is required which also adds to the price.

Another reason why some fuel oil prices are so high is that there are certain restrictions in certain areas to help promote and protect the environment.
Some of the hazards to the environment from fuel oil include smog and other types of pollution.  Producing a cleaner burning fuel makes that fuel more
expensive.

Gas price history is always taken into account to determine the direction the fuel oil prices are headed.  We’ve all heard that history repeats itself, and in the case of fuel oil prices, this is no different.  Experts are constantly analyzing the trends to help project the fuel oil prices for the next week, next season, or the next year.

Consumers should watch the trends that the experts are talking about.  If you just turn on the news, you are bound to get some information on the fuel oil prices, trends in gasoline, and how to conserve.  Even with rising prices, you can still save a bunch of money if you follow many of the fuel oil conservation tips and tricks that we share on these programs.

Informed consumers are always the ones that hang onto their money a little longer.  For example, keeping your car in tip-top condition will help you save gas since it will run a lot more efficiently.  Also, knowing the seasons where fuel oil prices are higher will allow you to budget accordingly.
