would like to save as much money as you can. With rising gas
prices, that means that you should become a gas saver.
Even with older cars, you can find tips to save gas. Just
follow these tips to use less gas while you
drive, and become a gas saver yourself!

It's hard to even think of
buying a new car these days...with auto manufacturers promoting
their best deals, people are just not buying. What really makes

Keep it Smooth
Fast starts are another gas guzzler. Try to avoid staring
your car quickly – no matter how cool it might look. Starting
your car and taking off fast wastes gas. Even doing so once or
twice can lower your gas mileage dramatically. It can waste you
as much as 90 cents per gallon. Remember that smooth driving is
also much safer, so stay safe and save your gasoline.
Save 20 cents a Gallon
You might like to drive slightly faster than the speed
limit, because you know that cops will be not likely to pull
you over and you can get there a little bit faster, even if you
only go 5 miles over. However, going over 60 at all uses up
much more gas than going under 60 mph. Stick to the speed
limit, or below, and take your time. You can figure that for
every 5 miles an hour you go over 60 mph, you are paying an
extra 20 cents a gallon.
Use Cruise
Cruise control is another way to be gas savers. Keep that
cruise control turned on, and you'll find that you are saving
just a little bit of gas each time you drive somewhere. If you
are slowing down and speeding up over and over again, you will
be wasting fuel.
Avoid Idling
Don't idle when you can help it. Remember that this means
you are getting zero miles per gallon, but still using up gas.
The more your car is running the more you are using up gas
without even meaning to. If you're sitting in traffic that
isn't moving to wait for an accident to clear, or the
drawbridge to come down, or even for those pesky "follow me"
cars, keep your engine turned off. As much as you can avoid
idling, do so. You'll save lots of gas that way.
Don't Ride the Brake
Also, if you can avoid keeping your foot on the brake, you
will find that this makes you into a gas saver. You can cut
down on the amount of fuel that you are using simply by keep
your foot off the brake. Having your foot there creates drag,
and also wears your brakes out much sooner. Save yourself some
money, and some cash by using less gas, and keep your foot
where it belongs!
